This morning the sun is streaming through the window. The light alone is enough to make me feel like racing down to the beach and jumping into the ocean. Hang on a minute?? I had to do it?. That's better!  The sea is still warm but the wind has no mercy on cold wet bodies. This will probably be my last week of UK sea swimming until next May.

Having travelled around Europe in June filming the 'It Has To Be ' stories and writing the songs and then sweltering in Paris recording with my mate Steve Forward, I'm now doing much preparatory work for the tour at the end of the month. This will involve returning to the places and people and their stories, doing some more filming and playing a concert in their towns. I will eventually get back to all 11 of my storytellers in their respective countries.

However, I invite you to come and see me too, if this tour comes anywhere near you!  Logistically it's a nightmare, but I'm really looking forward to playing solo in mostly unfamiliar territory and in some cases involving local musicians. I will be playing more conventional shows in the New Year when the new albums come out, but this is going to be a unique experience. In places like Milan and Barcelona I have no idea who will come and see me, but I'm really looking forward to the trip. Here are the dates so far?..

28.10.06 Bij De Vieze Gasten, Gent, Belgium
01.11.06 Paradiso (upstairs), Amsterdam, Netherlands
03.11.06 Pianissimo, Duisburg, Germany
07.11.06 Les Voutes, Paris, France
09.11.06 Helzinki Klub, Zurich, Switzerland
11.11.06 tbc  Milan, Italy
14.11.06 Luz De Gaz(SalaB) Barcelona, Spain

There is talk that there will be a special limited pre-release addition of the new  'It Has To Be' album available exclusively at the shows. I think this is a great idea!

Anyway?I hope that you have all had a good summer and that I will see some of you over the next few months.

Hello folks,

After a very hectic summer preparing our most attractive release to
date and finding new business partners to work with, "Real Life is
Good Enough" is now going into the shops in Germany and other parts
of Europe in the near future.

Many of you were aware of "Birthday" being released as a single about
a month ago to start the ball rolling.

I've been gearing up towards touring with performances in Berlin
Popkomm and Brussels Les Coulisses St. Jacques. Sam Walker (young
English drummer on the album and the tour) and I are very much
looking forward to the winter shows.

I've only recently stopped jumping in the sea every day in Brighton
because the beach has become crowded with polar bears! Thankfully,
Tony Blair and the Labour Party have finished their conference here
in town and so the extra five thousand policemen have gone home.

All the best,
John
